DEVIL’S POSTPILE AND MINARET FALLS AREA

            Near the town of Mammoth Lakes, but a 13 mile drive past Mammoth Mountain Ski Area and over a 9000’ pass to get to the area.  Must take the bus during the day, except to initially enter and leave, which also promotes a more remote style of camping with little traffic.  Completely different than Eastern Sierra with more of a Yosemite feel of the mountains.

Red’s Meadow Campground

            Remote, with trees and crude showers.  Good camping and very popular.  Nearby Devil’s Postpile National Monument.
